Hi everybody! Bonjour tout le monde!
Vous etes tous les bienvenus sur ce blog. Celui-ci a ete cree dans le but de partager mes voyages et mes experiences à l'etranger. Posez toutes les questions que vous voulez, je tacherais d'y repondre de la maniere la plus appropriée. Je vis en Irlande depuis un peu plus d'un an, à Dublin, mais je vous en dirais plus plus tard, apres mon retour de mes 3 semaines de vacances au Canada et New York. Je pars dans 2 semaines soit le 31/07/2008. Profitez bien!
You are all very welcome on this blog. This one is made in the aim of sharing my travels and abroad experiences. Feel free to ask questions about anything you want and i'll try to reply to you :). I'm living in Ireland for a bit more than a year, in Dublin, but i'll talk to you about it later, when i'll be back of my 3 weeks trip in Canada and New York, which is planned in 2 weeks. Enjoy!

PREPARATIFS/PLANNING THE TRIP

Well done! The trip is finally planned for New York mainly, because my sister did it for the Canadian part of my trip already :)
I don't know if I could do everything I planned because there is so many things to do... But i'll try anyway! Only one week remaining before going on the otherside of the ocean! Yepeeee! I'm so exited! Can't wait...

Ca c'est fait! Le sejour à New York est programmé et le planning des visites aussi. Ma soeur cest chargée de planifier la partie Canadienne du voyage. Je ne sais pas si je pourrais tout faire parce qu'il y en a trop justement... En fin on verra, je vais essayer d'en faire un max de toute facon. Je ne suis plus qu'à une semaine du départ et croyez-moi, j'en peu plus d'attendre d'y etre!

WELCOME TO CANADA!
Hi, Salut,
That's it! I reached my final destination. The 1st impression is that Montreal is nice, warm, and alive but doesn't seems too busy. This weekend takes place the NASCAR race on the Gilles Villeneuve race track. I could not see the race wich is on sunday because i'll be on my way to Niagara Falls but i'll see a part of the preparatives today... It will be cool anyway. Yep i told "will" because at the moment, writing this update, it's only 7 am, but i cannot sleep anymore because of the difference of time... So Montreal is very clean, peoples are nice, and girls are... wow! beautiful :) (sorry but i am still a man!). I already dated a female squirrel who is not wild at all. She comes to us claiming peanutson the terrace, but if we are not there, she doesn't hesitates to knock on the door! I'll give you some pictures tonight and more impressions as well.

Ca y est! J'y suis! Ma premiere impression est que Montreal est sympa, il y fait chaud, c'est vivant mais ne semble pas trop stressante. J'arrive juste pour la course de NASCAR qui aura lieu ce weekend sur le circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Je ne pourrais pas voir la course parce que je serais en route pour les chutes de Niagara mais je vais assister aux essais aujourd'hui. Ca va etre coooool! J'emploie le futur parce que là, au moment ou je vous ecrit, il n'est que 7 heure du mat', mais je ne peut plus dormir à cause du décalage horaire, donc j'attend que tout le monde se reveille... Donc pour résumer Montreal c'est propre, les gens sont sympas et les filles sont... aie aie aie mon ami... Superbes! :) (desolé amies lectrice mais je reste un mec!). Je me suis d'ailleurs deja fait une copine ecureuil, qui en fait pas tres sauvage. Elle vient reclamer des cacahuetes sur le balcon, et si on y est pas, elle tape a la porte! Je vous la montre en photos ce soir avec le recit de ma journée. Par contre elle n'a pas encore appris à mettre le chocolat dans le papier d'alu!

GIRLS, NASCAR AND INDIANS
Hi everybody, Salut,
Ok, as promised you can see below, pics of my squirrel friend, my new girlfriends, some pics from the NASCAR race, and some pics of the Iroquois Indian tribe archeological site I visited today on the south of Montreal. Explanations of the pics when i'll be back from NYC. It was very interesting. Well, tomorrow is the start of the roadtrip to NYC and we'll start by NIAGARA FALLS. I'm sorry, but I won't be able to provide you with an update before saturday... So be patient, you'll see lot of pictures.

Désolé pour le retard, mais je n'ai pas pu m'y mettre avant... enfin voila vous aller trouver ci-dessous le récit de la semaine passée ainsi que les photos des chutes de Niagara et de New York City. Je vais tacher d'etre le plus clair possible. Si vous avez des questions, utilisez le lien "commentaires" à la fin de chaque article.
Sorry for this delay but I didn't get a chance to update the blog before... So, you'll see below the description of the last week and many pictures of the places I went to : Niagara Falls and New York City. I'll try to be clear enough. Any questions, use the comment field at the end of my updates.
03/08/2008 MONTREAL-NIAGARA FALLS
En route pour Niagara falls. Départ 7h00 du matin. La météo s'annonce bonne... Bon, là, pas grand chose à raconter à part le fait que les lignes droites sont très (trop?) longues, les camions (trucks) impressionnants, et il y a des corvettes et des mustangs partout. A midi on a manger dans un centre commercial de fous avec un espace réservé à la restauration, peu avant d'arriver sur Toronto. Une fois passer Toronto (où il y a des autoroutes à 6 voies de chaque côté!) nous sommes restés bloqués dans un embouteillage pendant 3 heures! Et vous savez quoi? Heureusement car on entendait un bruit bizarre dans la voiture depuis un moment. Il s'agissait en fait d'un boulon de la roue avant gauche qui avait cassé, les autres étaient désserrés et la roue prête à se faire la malle! Un bon coup de clé, et de sueure (froide) et c'était bon. Nous arrivons sur Niagara Falls en longeant le lac Ontario et prenons quartier dans un Motel avant de jeter un oeil à la ville car il est déja 19h30...
Let's go to Niagara Falls. Departure on 7 am. The weather seems to be good... Nothing special to say except that the road are (too?) straight, the trucks are very impressive and corvettes and mustangs are everywhere. We had a meal in a huge mall close to Toronto. After Toronto (where there is 6 lanes highways on each side!) we were stuck in a traffic jam for 3 hours! And you know what? Hopefully! Because we heard a strange noise from the car for a quite long time. It was about a screw from the front left wheel which were break, and the others screw were not fixed properly. I repaired it but we were not so far from a dangerous crash. We arrived in Niagara Falls driving along the Lake Ontario and went to a Motel just before going to have a 1st look at the city because it was already 7h30 pm...

Niagara Falls looks like fake. It's a new city and it seems to be a small Las Vegas but it's a nice place to be seen once at least.
Niagara Falls semble être fausse. C'est une ville nouvelle et ressemble à un petit Las Vegas mais c'est un lieu splendide qu'il faut voir au moins une fois.
04/08/2008 NIAGARA FALLS-NEW YORK CITY
Nous avons continués notre route pour NYC mais nous devons d'abord perdre 1h30 pour passer la frontière... Contrôle des passeports, prises des empruntes digitales, photos... Une fois fait, nous avons traverser l'état de New York pour nous rendre à New York City. Il faut compter 10 à 12 heures de voitures. Mais ça va car les paysages sont sympas: jolies petites villes, maisons en bois, etc...
We kept on our way to NYC but we first had to loose 1h30 to enter the USA... Passport checking, fingers prints, pictures of our faces, etc... We finally continued our trip by driving thrue the New York State in the aim to reach NYC. We needed 10 to 12 hours by car but it was ok because there is beautiful landscapes, nice towns, woodhomes, etc...

Hi, Salut,
Today the program is lower Manhattan which includes the Museum of the American Indians, Ground Zero, the Woolworth building, Wall Street, the NYC City Hall, Brooklyn bridge, Chinatown and, as an extra, a baseball game of the New York Mets against the San Diego Padres!
A huge day so!
To resume, the Museum of the American Indians is small but interesting. It's about the history of Indians from North America and South America as well. Ground Zero is a big working place in progress. Nothing special to see actually, but the area is quiet difficult to avoid. The Woolworth building is inspired of the Gothic architecture... It is beautiful. Wall Street is...American! (see the picture below).
Brooklyn bridge is fabulous. From there, you can see the whole city of NY from lower Manhattan until the beginning of Harlem (Central Park North).
The Baseball game was a great moment (victory 5-2)! Not only because of the atmosphere in the arena and the game, but also to look at the american lifestyle. There you can see, a whole family enjoying a moment together, a mom with her children or her friends, the mascot of the team launching T-shirts over the assistance with a air compressed gun, or, and the best (lol), the "kiss cam", which, during the game standby, is looking at the public to find couples kissing! And you knowwhat? A man asked his fiancée to marry him, in the stadium direct live!
After the match we came back to the hotel but we got lost in Times square for few minutes, and you can believe me, it's another planet! You'll see that later...

Programme du jour: lower (sud) Manhattan ce qui inclus le Musée des Amerindiens, Ground Zero, le Woolworth building, Wall Street, la mairie de NYC, le fameux pont de Brooklyn, Chinatown et, cerises sur le gateau, un match de baseball des New York Mets contre les San Diego Padres!
Une grosse journée quoi!
Pour resumer, le Musée des Amerindiens est petit mais interessant.
Ca raconte l'histoire des Indiens d'Amérique du nord mais aussi du Sud. Ground Zero est un énorme chantier en cours. rien de
special à y voir en fait, mais la zone est difficilement contournable dans ce quartier. Le
Woolworth building est inspiré d'une architecture gothique... Il est magnifique, un vrai bijou. Wall Street c'est...Americain! (vous allez voir la photo... si si!).
Le pont de Brooklyn est fabuleux. De là, vous pouvez voir toute la ville de NY depuis lower Manhattan jusqu'au début de Harlem (Central Park
Nord).
Le match de baseball fut un grand moment (victoire 5-2)! Pas seulement à cause de l'ambiance et du match, mais aussi parce que ca donne une bonne image du mode de vie Americain. Vous pouvez y voir une famille entière partageant un moment tous ensemble, une mère et ses enfants ou ses amies pour une sortie entre copines, la mascotte de l'équipe locale lançant des T-shirts dans le public with avec un pistolet à air comprimé, ou, et c'est le meilleur(lol), la "kiss cam", qui, pendant les arrêts de jeu, scrute le public afin de filmer les couples en train de s'embrasser! Et vous savez quoi? Un mec a demandé sa fiancée en mariage, dans le stade, en direct live!
Après le match nous sommes rentrés à l'hotel mais on s'était un peu perdu dans Times
square pendant quelque minutes, et croyez moi, il s'agit d'une autre planete! Vous verrez ca plus tard...

Hi everybody, Salut tout le monde,
Bon, vous allez me poser la question "pourquoi pas la Statue de la Liberté en premier?" ben parce que il y avait quelque chose comme 3 heures d'attente pour prendre le bateau! donc on a acheter nos billets hier, et du coup, on y va aujourd'hui... :) Seulement, ce matin, surpriiise! Il pleut! Donc pour les photos ben ca n'allait pas etre super. Donc direction Grand Central Station pour voir son beau Hall et sa superbe fresque au plafond representant les signes du zodiaque, ainsi que pour suivre la suite du programme. Mais, bonne surprise à la sortie de Grand Central Station, le soleil était là! Ayant nos tickets en main, nous sommes donc partis directement voir la Statue de la Liberté et Ellis Island qui abritait le centre de quarantaine des immigrants.
Suite du programme de la journée, l'Empire State Building qui est le plus haut building de NYC à l'heure actuelle (450m), le Flatiron Building qui est l'un des premiers building de NYC et haut de 30 étages, et l'incroyable Times Square aux enseignes imposantes et où tout est possible.
Well, you'll ask me "why not the Statue of Liberty first?" Because there were something like 3h00 to wait to pick a ferry! So we bought our tickets yesterday and we went today... :) But this morning, surprise surpriiiiise! It was rainy! Was not very good for the pictures actually. So we took the decision to go to Grand Central Station to see its beautiful hall and its superb painted roof representing the zodiacal signs, and then continues the program of the day. But once we went out of Grand Central Station, surprise again! there were a beautiful sunny day! Lucky we are! ;) So, having our tickets already, we decided finally to go to The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island which were the quarantine place for immigrants, before going NYC for good.
Program of the rest of the day, the Empire State Building which is the highest of NYC at the moment (450m), the Flatiron building which is one of the first building of NYC with 30 storeys, and to finish, the incredible Times Square.

Salut, Hi,
Aujourd'hui, petit dej à Rockfeller plaza, ballade dans le Rockfeller Center et ses environs, St Patrick's Cathedrale,
le Chrysler Building, et Central Park, avant de faire la 5ème Avenue et de finir au restaurant Bubba Gump à Times Square (c'était très bon).
Demain, c'est la route du retour sur Montreal au Canada.
Today, breakfast on Rockfeller plaza, promenade in Rockfeller Center and around, St Patrick's Cathedral, the Chrysler Building, and Central Park, before a shopping session on the 5th Avenue, and the final touch, a dinner at the Bubba Gump restaurant in Times Square (it was very good actually).
Tomorrow will be the time to go back to Montreal, Canada.

08/08/2008 NEW YORK CITY - MONTREAL
SALUT, HI,
Today, nothing special to say about the road except that we found some heavy rains, and on the afternoon, a beautiful lake named Lake George. It's a nice and quiet place to rest a bit... This lake is half in Vermont State and half in New York State. We arrived late in Montreal and tired, after a 1,946 kms roadtrip... And it's not finish. Let's see the following days ;)
Aujourd'hui, rien de particulier à raconter à part qu'on a eu droit à de fortes pluies sur la route, et que dans l'après midi, on est tombé sur un superbe lac du nom de Lake George. C'est un endroit superbe pour se reposer un peu... Il est situé à cheval sur l'Etat du Vermont et de New York, non loin de la frontière Canadienne. Nous sommes arrivés tardivement et fatigués sur Montreal, après un petit périple de 1946 kms... Et c'est pas fini!

Hi, Salut,
Today it's about to visit Montreal. There is nothing special to be seen except the modern and the old town... You'll see the pictures by yourself. Like my sister said, it's a city to live in, not really to visit it. It's quiet for a big city anyway, and there is lot of events planned during the summer.
Aujourd'hui, il s'agit de visiter Montreal. Il n'y a rien de spécial à y voir excepter la ville moderne et la vieille ville... Vous jugerez par vous même des photos... Comme ma soeur l'a si bien dit, c'est une ville à vivre, pas vraiment un endroit à visiter. C'est vraiment calme pour une grosse ville, voir relaxant, et plein d'évenements y sont programmés pendant l'été.

Hi all, Salut à toutes et à tous,
Aujourd'hui, ballade au jardin botanique (à côté du stade olympique), qui est plutôt joli, le 3éme plus grand du monde apres Londres et Berlin. Les principaux lieux à y voir sont les jardins chinois et japonais. C'est pas forcément la meilleure chose qu'il m'ait été donné de faire mais c'était quand même joli. La tour du stade est la plus haute tour inclinée du monde. N'empêche que ce que je veut faire au Canada, c'est du grand air, du kayak, de la nature. Ca arrive pour les jours prochains. Mouais ca va pour cette fois!;)
Today, promenade at the botanic garden (near the olympic stadium), which is quiet nice, the 3rd largest in the world behind London and Berlin. The best places to see in are the chinese and japanese area. It was not the funniest thing I did in my life, but it was nice. The tower of the stadium is the tallest inclined tower in the world. Anyway, what I want to do in Canada is outdoor activities, kayaking, hiking, nature. It's coming for the following days. Ok, it's fine for that time! ;)

Comme prévue, nous partons visiter Quebec City, à 230 kms de Montreal... Le temps est moyen mais une amélioration est prévue en milieu de journée. Entre Montreal et Quebec, rien que de l'autoroute, donc rien de très intérressant.
Québec est une très jolie ville, fondée en 1608 par Samuel De Champlain, qui fut le premier gouverneur et Vice Roi de la "Nouvelle France". Notre bon Roi de l'époque, "Nostre Henry" (Henry IV), lui refusa le titre de noblesse auquel il prétendait... Probablement une histoire de femme, encore une fois! :)
Québec ressemble donc beaucoup à la France.
Nous avons poursuivis notre route un peu plus en aval du fleuve Saint Laurent pour voir les chutes de Montmorency, et tomber dans les bras de Morphée peu après la charmante petite ville de Baie Saint Paul.
Like previously planned, we are on our way to visit Quebec City, 230 kms away from Montreal... The weather were not that good but was planned to be better at noon. Nothing special to say between Montreal and Quebec City except that there is a beautiful straight highway!

Quebec City very looks like a nice french town so.
We continued our way a bit northern on the St Lawrence River, to see the falls of Montmorency, and falling in the arms of Morphee just next to the nice town of Baie St Paul.

Before you ask, no I didn't visit the Frontenac castle, because it's an hotel...

We tried to see the whales in the St Lawrence River but it was not a very good day (from fog to heavy rain via sun!). We didn't see anything so! you'll see that this place looks like a kind of "end of the world", there is nothing around, but it's beautiful. You'll see as well how fast the weather can change over there.
Nous avons essayés d'observer les baleines du fleuve Saint Laurent mais ça n'était pas une très bonne journée... On est passé du brouillard le matin à de grosses pluies le soir en passant par du beau soleil en début d'après midi. En bref, on a rien vu du tout à part un dos de petite baleine commune (10-12m) et un phoque. Vous allez voir que cet endroit est une sorte de bout du monde, il n'y a rien autour mais c'est magnifique. Vous allez aussi voir comme le temps peut changer tres vite là-bas.

Well!, That's it! Lets go back to Montreal. We'll rest a bit for the next 2 days before starting kayaking and hiking :)
